Trusted leader, public servant Speed dies
North Carolina lost a true public servant this week, and Franklin County lost a trusted man who lived his life to give generously and wholeheartedly to his family, friends, profession, church and community.
Sen. James Speed, 91, passed away Wednesday.
Having a legislative career of 32 years as a dedicated Democrat, Speed most recently reflected on his time as a legislator during a meeting of the Franklin County Cattlemen’s Association.
