Breaking News: Fast-moving storm sweeps across county

Breaking News: Fast-moving storm sweeps across county
A swift storm with destructive winds swept through Franklin County Thursday evening, smashing at least one house, toppling trees and dragging down power lines.
No injuries were reported, though.
County Emergency Services Director Jeff Lewis and Sheriff Jerry Jones were out Friday morning, assessing damage in the county.

JOHN R. MEDLIN
SPRING HOPE - John Robert Medlin, 60, died Friday, June 14, 2013. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Peachtree Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Whitehouse officiating, with visitation one hour prior to service.

MELVIN R. GUPTON
LOUISBURG - Melvin R. Gupton of Louisburg passed away tragically on June 12, 2013 at the age of 56 due to a work accident.  He was known for his outgoing, joking, smiling personality and his amazing cooking.  But most of all, he was known for his love of his family.  He was a devoted husband, Daddy, Papa, Brother & friend.  He was loved greatly and will be missed beyond measure by everyone that knew him.
