Breaking News: Novant slashes hospital staff, services

In a stunning and sudden move early Tuesday morning, the owners of Franklin Medical Center slashed staff, drastically cut back services and downgraded the hospital to basically an emergency room with a couple of in-patient beds.
Novant Health which owns the hospital said through a spokesman that the company was "adjusting services. . .in order to be better aligned with changing national health care trends."
