Breaking News: Section C of 401 funded; work to begin by 2019

Franklin County got some long-awaited good news from the North Carolina Department of Transportation Friday morning -- the construction of Section C of U.S. 401 has been funded.
Construction of Section C, which runs from the Franklin-Wake county line north to the Royal crossroads is scheduled to begin by Fiscal Year 2019 -- and take about two years. The two-lane highway will be increased to four lanes in a Super Street design format, engineers said.
