JOHN D. COFFIN
RALEIGH - John Donald Coffin, 67, died Saturday, July 8, 2006. A private graveside service will be conducted at Oakwood Cemetery at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, July 12), with the Rev. Ed New of Edenton Street United Methodist Church officiating.

He was born in Haw River to the late Paul Donald and Ione Coble Coffin. Coffin worked as an auditor for the North Carolina Department of Revenue for nearly 30 years. Upon retirement he received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from Gov. Jim Hunt. He had been a resident of Louisburg Nursing Center.

Surviving: daughters, Paige Peden (Steven) and Leigh Ann Kerr (Will), all of Raleigh; brother, Paul Coffin of Wilson; and two granddaughters. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Margaret Landen of Raleigh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.
