JAMES W. “BILL” GARRETT
FRANKLINTON - James William “Bill” Garrett, 86, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Wake Med. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, June 6) at Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clyde Waiden officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born in Vance County to the late Nolan and Mabel Morton Garrett. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 52.

Surviving: wife, Violet L. Garrett of Franklinton; daughter, Mary Ann Watson (Barry) of Graham; sons, Dwight Garrett (Dorothy) of Franklinton and Mark Garrett, also of Franklinton; brothers, Richard Garrett of Creedmoor, David Garrett of Franklinton and George L. Garrett of Durham; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Contributions in his memory may be made to American Legion Post 52, 40 American Legion Road, Franklinton, NC 27525.
