MAXINE D. RAY
MIDDLESEX - Maxine Dement Ray, 83, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at her home. Funeral services were Thursday, June 18, at Strickland Funeral Home in Wendell. Burial followed in the Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex.

She was born in Franklin County, daughter of the late Louise Hunt and Ollie O. Dement, and was the widow of Oliver Bennett Ray. She was retired assistant town clerk with the Town of Middlesex.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn D. Rogers, and two brothers, William and Durwood Hunt Dement.

Surviving: daughter, Wanda (Michael) Paylor of Garner; and two grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Heartland Hospice, 3200 Atlantic Ave., Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27604 or to The Golden Girls Ministry, P.O. Box 575, Middlesex, NC 27557.
