PRINCETON - Walton Kenneth “Shad” Herring, 79, died Saturday, June 20, 2009. A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, June 23, at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Ralph Parker officiating. A graveside service with Military Honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, June 24) at Princeton Cemetery.

He was born to the late Herbert Gordon and Ethel Ferrell Herring. He served his country in the Marine Corps and worked for Southern Bell for 32 years.

 Surviving: wife, Christine Martin Herring; son, Walton Kenneth Herring Jr. of Fayetteville; daughters, Charisse Martin of Georgia, Beth Chadwick of Wilmington; stepson, Lavan Sullivan of Bunn; stepdaughters, Lenora Morton of Princeton, Tammie Fail of Princeton; brother, Billy Gordon Herring of Selma; and 14 grandchildren.
