BERRY P. “B.P.” HOLDEN JR.
YOUNGSVILLE - Berry Patterson (B.P.) Holden Jr. 91, of Youngsville died Thursday evening, Oct. 15, 2009 at his home.  He was born and raised in Franklin County on land that has been in the family for five generations and is registered as a Century Farm.  Mr. Holden and his wife started, owned and operated Holden’s Bar-B-Que in Youngsville until their retirement.

He was a World War II Veteran and served his country honorably receiving the Purple Heart Award.  He was a former member of the Franklinton American Legion.  Mr. Holden was a loyal lifetime member of Wake Union Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Willie Hicks Holden and Berry Patterson Holden Sr.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Bertha Mason Holden; his sisters, Ola Jackson and Ida Holden. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at  Wake Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jack Painter officiating. Burial will follow in the Wake Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Holden is survived by daughters, Judy Holden Hill and husband John of Rock Hill, S.C., Ginny Holden Keith and husband Charles of Youngsville; sons, Neil Holden and wife Deborah of Youngsville and Randy Holden and fiancé Carol of Youngsville; sister, Susie Williams of Rolesville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wake Union Baptist Church Land Fund; 13345 Wake Union Church Rd, Wake Forest, NC 27587; Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St Mary’s Street, 4th Floor, Raleigh, NC 27605 or to a charity of one’s choice.
