MARTHA D. SHEARIN
November 14, 1935 – November 2, 2009
LOUISBURG – Martha Denton Shearin, 73, of the Wood Community, died Monday morning at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Martha was a daughter of the late John Burt and Flonnie Bell Denton. She was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Ann Reid, and brothers, Floyd, Douglas, George, Joe, Reuben and Van.

Martha was the former Register of Deeds of Franklin County from 1976-1997 and was a member of Louisburg Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Louisburg Baptist Church, with Dr. Reggie Rushing and the Rev. Phillip Kissinger officiating. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Martha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Edward Thompson; sons, Eddie Shearin and Jon Shearin; brother, J.B. Denton; sisters, Mary Gupton, all of Wood, Katie Shearin of Macon, Dora Jane Roble of Pittsburgh; loving grandchildren, Jody, Stephen, Brittini, Dusten and Nicholas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisburg College, 501 N. Main St., Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family received friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg, and other times at the home.
