CHRISTINE S. HAYES
CLINTON - Christine Strickland Hayes, 90, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Hospice of Wake County in Raleigh. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, March 27) at First Baptist Church, 408 College St., Clinton, with the Rev. Ron Cava officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.

She was a native of Sampson County and was the last of 10 children of Mosberry and Lessie Warren Strickland. She was the widow of Lennie Hayes. She and her husband were the owners/operators of several general stores.

Surviving: daughter, Peggy Hayes Austin (Mel) of Richmond, Va.; sons, Larry Mack Hayes (Terry) of Youngsville and Johnny Lynn Hayes (Joy) of Raleigh; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at First Baptist Church.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
