JAMES S. MITCHELL JR.
WAKE FOREST- James Sterling Mitchell Jr., 97, died Sunday Nov. 21, 2010 at the William Dunlap Hospice Center in Raleigh. Funeral services will be held 2  p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Roach officiating. Burial will follow in the Duke family cemetery.

He was born in Wake County, son of the late Mamie Robertson Mitchell and James Sterling Mitchell, and was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Duke Mitchell.

He was a farmer and he retired from Westinghouse in Raleigh in 1975 with over 20 years of dedicated service.

Surviving: daughters, Alice M. Pearce (Bubber) of Wake Forest, Mary M. Godfrey (Wade) of Wake Forest; sons, James C. Mitchell (Edna) of Garner, J. Douglas Mitchell (Betty Lou) of Wake Forest; brother, Benny Mitchell (Pansy) of Wendell; six grandchildren; and seven  great-grandchildren.

Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 200 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, N.C. 27607.

Friends may visit with the family from 12– 2 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home and all other times at the home of Mary and Wade Godfrey, 2016 Rolesville Road, Wake Forest.
