GORDON EDWIN WADE
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Wade, age 80, of Charlotte, NC, died on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at the Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte.

He was born on Feb. 5, 1930, in Draper, NC, to Frank Richard Wade and Lelia (Turner) Wade.

Mr. Wade served his country in the U.S. Navy from April 30, 1948, until his honorable discharge on Feb. 3, 1950.

He married Joann Nowell on Jan. 12, 1957, in Franklinton, NC. Mrs. Wade died in 2003.

He worked for Little Construction Company in Charlotte for forty years. Mr. Wade was a building superintendent.

Survivors include his daughter, Tonya Wade Smith, and husband Brian, Indian Land, SC; his daughter-in-law, Wanda Wilson Wade, Franklinton, NC; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Wade Bridges, and husband Steven, Garner, NC, and Robin Faye Wade, Franklinton, NC; his great-grandson, Stephen Brant Wade, Franklinton, NC; four brothers, Richard (Betty) Wade, Beaufort, NC; Alvis Wade, Durham, NC; Learo (Marie) Wade, Salisbury, NC; and Learon (Ann) Wade, Durham, NC; three sisters, Dorothy W. Crowder, Danville, VA; Marcie W. Young, Santa Marie, CA; and Connie W. McSwain, Kings Mountain, NC; his dog, Roxy; and many nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, from 1-2 p.m. at the McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd., Mint Hill, NC, followed by his memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Michael Mustian of the Forest Pointe Church in Belmont, NC, will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joann, two sons, Gary Allen Wade and Stephen Edwin Wade; one sister, Helen Wade Hall; and one brother, Melvin Daniel Wade.
