VERNON GLENN MAY
May 28, 1938 – February 4, 2011
WAKE FOREST – Vernon Glenn May passed away in Raleigh on February 4, 2011.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Eula Jeffreys May; his two sons and their families, Breck May and his wife, Rose, Keith May and his wife, Martha, and their daughter, Hayden May. Also surviving are his brothers, Elmo May and his wife, Dovie, and Douglas May and his wife, Janet; sisters, Alma Dickerson, and Shirley Southall and her husband, Wilbur; and sister in-law, Peggy May Perdue and her husband, Kenneth.

Vernon was born to Willie and Eleanor May in Louisburg, North Carolina on May 28, 1938. He graduated Mills High School in Louisburg, and attended Louisburg College for two years. He retired with almost thirty-eight years of service with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company (Reynolds America) in Winston-Salem, NC.

Vernon was a member of Wake Forest United Methodist Church.

Services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Spring Baptist Church, with the Reverend Melton Tyson officiating. Entombment followed at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family received friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Monday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 103 W. Franklin Street, Louisburg.

Flowers will be graciously accepted, or memorials may be made to Cheryl Turner, North Carolina Zoo Society, 4403 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, NC 27205.

A special thank you to the staff and residents of Falls River Court, Hospice of Wake County, and Dr. Robert L. Gianforcaro for their care, love, and support.
