ZEBULON - James Robert Perry, 94, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 10, at Union Hope Baptist Church. Burial was in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon.

He was born in Nash County to the late Harris Robert and Loutoria B. Perry. He farmed for more than 40 years and later was employed by the N.C. Department of Transportation, retiring in 1982.

He was preceded in death by Stella Jeans Perry, his wife of 57 years; Lula Massey Perry, his second wife of 12 years; six brothers, one sister and a granddaughter.

Surviving: daughters, Melanie Jeffreys (Jimmy) of Bunn, Barbara Gay (Myron) of Kenly, Brenda Langley of Zebulon; sons, Robert Dan Perry of Garner and Roney Perry (Kathryn) of Zebulon; stepsons, Ray Massey of Zebulon and Randall Massey of Raleigh; stepdaughter, LuAnn Hinton of Archer Lodge; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
