CORINE S. MURPHY
LOUISBURG - Bettie Corine Smith Murphy, 89, of Louisburg, died Friday, February 18, 2011, in Nash General Hospital.  She was born November 14,1921, the daughter of Joseph Eugene Smith and Naomi Hayes Smith.  She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served on the deacon board and was church treasurer for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Murphy; her son, Donald Murphy; her brothers, Julian, Newell, Marshall, Ira and Edward Smith.  She was a supervisor at Sportswear in Warren County and Louisburg and Tom Togs in Youngsville where she retired.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Don McGinnis officiating.  Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Murphy and wife, Pat of Louisburg; her daughters, Judy Harp and husband, Junious of Shelby, NC, Betty Jean Adams and husband, Barry of Louisburg; her daughter-in-law, Margaret Murphy of Cary; her sister, Alyce Bennett of Cary; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg.
