WAKE FOREST - Norris D. “Monty” Montjoy, 76, died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Rex Hospital. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon, April 25, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Perry family cemetery with military honors.
He was born in Mecklenburg County and was retired from the U.S. Marines after 22 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a POW and a decorated veteran of Korea and Vietnam. Three purple hearts and a silver star are among his many military commendations.
Surviving: sons, Michael Montjoy (Stephanie) of Youngsville and Marvin Montjoy and Valerie Brantley of Louisburg; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelva Joanne Montjoy.
