ZEBULON – Eddie Godfrey “E.G.” Richards, 83, of Zebulon, passed away Tuesday afternoon.
E.G. was the son of the late Eddie Godfrey and Isolia Susan Richards. He was a faithful follower of Christ and a leader of his church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved sports and was a Carolina Tar Heels and N.Y. Yankees fan. He was an Air Force Veteran. He was an auto parts manager with Chrysler for 38 years.
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Friday at Poplar Spring Baptist Church with Dr. Steven Wade and the Rev. Tom Eldridge officiating. Burial followed in Pearce Baptist Church cemetery.
E.G. is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lucille P. Richards; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Judy Richards; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Tony Shannaha≠n, all of Zebulon; sister, Sue Stell of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jonathan Shannahan and wife, Lauren, Drew Richards, and Katie Shannahan; great-granddaughter, Olivia Shannahan.

The family received friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.
