LINWOOD E. BAIRD, SR.

Mr. Baird, 76, of Charlotte, NC, died early Saturday morning, September 10, 2011 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.

He was born in Franklinton, North Carolina, on November 30, 1934, a son of the late Lucy Brown Baird and Willie Baird.  After serving in the United States Marine Corps in California, Japan and Korea, he worked as an auditor with American Mutual Insurance Company in Charlotte, NC for 27 years.  Mr. Baird was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

 The Baird family will greet friends from 11:00 AM until 12 Noon, Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Sharon Baptist Church.  A Memorial Service will follow at 12 Noon, Wednesday in the sanctuary with The Reverend Robbie Page, Senior Minister, officiating.

Mr. Baird was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Addie Baird; two sons: Linwood Eugene “Gene” Baird and wife, Marie and Edward Allen “Eddie” Baird and wife, Tonya; four granddaughters: Elizabeth, Addison, Caitlin and Caitlyn and one grandson, Tyler; and a number of nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Baird.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his church, Sharon Baptist Church, 6411 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC  28210 or Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
