GARNETTA S. EAVES
HENDERSON - Garnetta Swinson Eaves, 86, a resident of 21 Joe Ayscue Road, died Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Maria Parham Medical Center.  Born on November 27, 1924 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Preston Graham Swinson and Garnet McCaskey Swinson.  She was a member of Liberty Christian Church where she was a former member of the Bertha Mitchell Sunday School Class.  Mrs. Eaves was a partner with her husband in E & S Farm Store, Eaves-Parks Insurance Agency and other business interests.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Christian Church by the Rev. Bryan Breland and the Rev. Tammy Ayscue.  Burial followed in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Charles Toleston Eaves, Sr.; one daughter, Michele E. Burgess and husband, Talmadge of Henderson; two sons, Charles Toleston Eaves, Jr. and wife, Judy Finch Eaves of Henderson, and Michael Davis Eaves and wife, Susan Rankin Eaves of Fuquay-Varina; five grandchildren, Edward Alan O’Neal of Clinton, Wendy Michelle Eaves of Henderson, Gina Elizabeth Eaves of Sanford, Audrey Denise Eaves Cobb and husband, Justin of Greenville, and Justin Carter Burgess of Wilmington; one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Susannah O’Neal of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer Swinson and Paul Swinson; and her sisters, Reba Roebuck, Selma Swinson, and Benita Strawbridge. 

The family received friends Monday night from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at J. M. White Funeral Home.  At other times they were at the home at 21 Joe Ayscue Road.

Serving as active pall bearers were Russell Eaves, Danny Rowland, Tony Robertson, Dan Oakley, Tony Pierce, Mitch Moss, Mike Ayscue, James Strawbridge, Preston Swinson, Chuck Oakley, Greg Oakley, and Randy Kearney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Christian Church, c/o Mattie Renn May, 132 Beverly Hills Lane, Henderson NC 27537.

Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
