FRANKLINTON —Zelma Sophina Brewer Puett, 79, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church, 854 Perry’s Chapel Church Road, Franklinton.

She worked for many years in the hosiery industry as a knitter and fixer with Durham Hosiery, Burlington Industries, and Glenn Raven Mills.  She was a long-time member of Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church where she sang and played her guitar in the church band.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Finley Jerome Brewer and Emma Moody Brewer; son, Roger Dale Puett; grandson, Eric Bradley Puett; granddaughter, Melissa Ann Puett; brothers, James Sidney Brewer, Finley Ray Brewer, Sonny Jerome Brewer; and sister, Marjorie Lewis.  

Surviving: her husband, Lewis G. Puett Sr.; children, Lewis Gene Puett Jr. and wife Pamela, Michael Puett and wife Anne, Janet West, Anita Behler and husband Timothy, Stanley Puett and wife Denise, Danny Puett and wife Melissa; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, Also surviving are sisters, Geraldine Crawley and Nancy Johnson of Morganton, Alma Sluder of Bluff City, Tenn., Janvea Clark of Newland; and brothers, Finley Brewer Jr. of Louisville, Ky., John Brewer of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Steven Brewer of Marion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church or UNC Hospital Women’s Cancer Center.

Arrangements are by Hall-Wynne Funeral Services, Franklinton.
