ALMIRA B. SHUGART
YADKINVILLE - Almira Banks Shugart, 86, formerly of Franklinton, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 in the Vienna Village Retirement Community near Winston-Salem. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. at Vienna Village, led by Hospice and Palliative CareCenter Chaplain Craig Walker. A reception will follow. She was born in Wake County to Mary Mitchiner Banks and Felix Gerard Banks. Her home was in Franklin County until her marriage to M. W. Shugart Jr. in 1938. They lived in Halifax for many years before moving to their farm near Franklinton in 1969. In 2001, they moved to Yadkinville. Mrs. Shugart was a homemaker.

Surviving: her daughter, Dottie Shugart Kellogg (Robert) of Durham; son, M. W. “Bill” Shugart III (Pamala) of Yadkinville; and two grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas Gerard Banks and Joseph Samuel Banks. Contributions may be made to Vienna Village, 6601 Yadkinville Road, Pfafftown, NC 27040, for the Memorial Gardens Fund; to the First Baptist Church of Yadkinville, P. O. Box 668, Yadkinville, NC 27055; or to the charity of one’s choice.
