HERBERT LEO WILLIAMS
FRANKLINTON - Herbert Leo Williams, Sr., age 99, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Louisburg Nursing Center.  Leo was born in Granville County to the late Clem C. and Naomi Hicks Williams on May 18, 1912.  Leo proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Franklinton Baptist Church and the Franklinton American Legion Post 52.

Leo had a keen sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke.  In his spare time he loved to fish and spend time with his beloved wife, Virginia, and their family.

Leo is survived by his sister, Sarah W. Fuller of Franklinton; his granddaughter, Tammy L. Coats; his great-granddaughter, Ashly Finotti; his great-great granddaughter, Addison Finotti; his sister-in-law, Ava Williams; and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his son, Herbert L. Williams, Jr.; and his daughter, Linda Moore.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 9, 2011 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 504 E. Mason St. in Franklinton, with the Reverend David Averette presiding.  Burial with military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends visited one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Franklinton Baptist Church or to the American Legion Post 52.
