SAMUEL HARTWELL RANSDELL SR.
March 28, 1923 - January 7, 2012
LOUISBURG – Samuel Hartwell Ransdell, Sr., 88, died Saturday, January 7, 2012. He was the son of the late M. L. and Mary Stone Ransdell.  Mr. Ransdell was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie D. Ransdell; a son, Samuel H. (Sammy)  Ransdell, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce R. and Herbert Young; sisters, Addie R. Cash, Mattie R. Harrison, Virginia R. McConnell, Josephine R. Hart, Mable R. Medlin and Eleanor Ransdell; brothers, John Ransdell, Fred Ransdell and Charlie Pergerson. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.

He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Ransdell; grandson, Herbert Young, Jr., both of Louisburg; sister, Elsie Strickland of Raleigh.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg, with the Rev. Jared Pemper officiating. Burial followed at the Ransdell Family Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday and other times at his home, 444 Barnette Rd., Louisburg.
