ELEANOR N. AVERETTE
January 30, 1939 – March 5, 2012
LOUISBURG – Eleanor Alma Newton Averette, 73, of Louisburg, died Monday morning.

Eleanor was a daughter of the late Charlie Hartwell “C.H.” and Alma Leigh Rogers Newton, Sr.. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Averette. She graduated from Louisburg College. She was the pianist at Bunn U.M.C. and Leah’s Chapel U.M.C. and worked at Louisburg College Library.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Stan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie A. and Carlton Batton of Bunn; son, Tim Averette of Louisburg; twin sister, Elmar N. Holmes; brother and sister-in-law, Hartwell and Sara Newton, Jr.; grandchildren, J.W. Batton and Bailey C. Batton; nieces, Diane Holmes, Amy Ball (C.H.); nephews, Devone Holmes, Mark Newton; great-nieces, Jamie Sunde (Chris), Heather Goyette; great-nephews, Christopher Goyette and Myles Ball.

In  lieu  of  flowers,  memorials  may  be  made  to Leah’s Chapel U.M.C, 50 Promise Land Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family received friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, and other times at the home of Elmar Holmes, 193 Egypt Church Rd., Louisburg.
