M. DODSON DICKERSON
April 6, 1938 – May 16, 2012

LOUISBURG – M. Dodson Dickerson, 74, of Louisburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon.

He was born in Granville County, son of the late Henry Woodrow Dickerson and Susan Bell Turner.  Mr. Dickerson served in the Army Reserve for 9 years.  Dodson was the Manager of Fox’s Department Store for 19 ½ years.  He then became Plant Manager of Joyner Manufacturing for 25 years.  After he retired, he worked at Wal-Mart in sporting goods for 5 years.  

He served as President of the Louisburg Chamber of Commerce and was responsible for the 1st town sidewalk sale in Louisburg.  He was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer.    

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Seate officiating.  Family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 prior to service.  Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn West Dickerson; son, David Dickerson (Lesa); daughters, Teresa Wrenn (Steve), Pam Shearin (Chuck) all of Louisburg; sisters, Brenda Parker (Richard) of Pollocksville, Janice Gilliam (Tim) of Louisburg; brothers, Chip Dickerson (Dale) of Greensboro, Steve Dickerson (Sharon) of Oxford and Brent Dickerson (Ann) of Creedmoor; grandchildren, Blake Wrenn (Robin), Adrienne Wrenn, Dean Bobbitt, Kyle Bobbitt, Haley Shearin: great-grandson, Rhyne Bobbitt.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2240 NC 39 Hwy N, Louisburg, NC  27549.
