BARBARA A. HUDSON
Barbara Ann Pergerson Hudson died Monday, June 4, 2012 at Rex Hospital with her husband and son by her side.

Mrs. Hudson was born February 1st, 1941 in Franklinton North Carolina.  She was preceded in death by her son, Barrett B. Hudson; her brother, Franklin Baer “FB” Pergerson; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benard Pergerson, Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ben Hudson of Youngsville, North Carolina; son Bradley Hudson of Youngsville, North Carolina; sister, Dorothy P. Wester (Bobby) of Franklinton, North Carolina; brother Benard Pergerson, Jr. of Annapolis, Maryland; a black lab, Abby; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends. 

Barbara was born in Franklin County and was a member of Franklinton United Methodist Church. She also attended Oak Level Christian Church with the Hudson family.  She attended Franklinton City Schools and graduated with an Associate Degree from Louisburg College.  She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a Master of Arts in Education and a second Master of Arts in Public School Administration and Supervision from East Carolina University.   Mrs. Hudson served as a teacher and assistant principal for Youngsville School in Franklin County for 31 years and continued to work for many years after retirement in both Wake and Franklin Counties.

In addition to her love for teaching, she was able to remain active in the community by owning and operating a gift boutique, Barbara’s Cottage in Youngsville. She was a member of the Youngsville Woman’s Club, enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and spending time at her second home in Emerald Isle.   Barbara loved her family and was especially blessed to have a wonderful marriage with her soul mate.  She and Ben began dating as high school students.  They remained inseparable right up until her passing, where he was by her side.

Visitation was held at Bright Funeral Home, Tuesday June 5th, from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. with graveside services on Wednesday, June 6th, at 2 p.m. at Oak Level Christian Church Cemetery, 2279 Cedar Creek Rd, Youngsville NC. Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Level Christian Church.
