JOSEPHINE H. HARRIS (July 8, 1926 – December 22, 2006)
LOUISBURG - Josephine Hight Harris, 80, formerly of Asheville, died Friday, December 22nd, in Louisburg, NC.

She was a native of Franklin County NC, and was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce M. Harris, who died in 1990. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie Burt and Ludie Bailey Hight of Franklin County.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, J. Warren and Kathy Harris of Spring Hope, NC, and Matt and Cathy Harris of Greer, SC. She is also survived by two sisters, Bette Rorie of Fayetteville, NC, and Dawn Dickens of Louisburg, NC. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She retired as an accountant at the Gallery of the Mountains Gift Shop at the Grove Park Inn. Previously she had also served as the accountant for the Baggy Goose Gift Shop in Biltmore Village. In addition, she held numerous volunteer positions for various organizations. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville where she was an Elder and once served as President of the Women of the Church. Jo and Bruce moved to Asheville in 1954. Bruce was a sales manager for Walker Martin & Co. and General Electric.

Graveside service will be held at Lewis Memorial Park in Asheville at 2:15 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2006; a memorial service will follow at 3 PM in the sanctuary at the First Presbyterian Church in Asheville. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Visitation was 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm on Tuesday, December 26th, at Strickland Funeral Home in Louisburg, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville, 40 Church Street Asheville, NC 28801.
