JOHN H. CLARKE SR.
RALEIGH - John Henry Clarke Sr., 86, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Wesley Memorial Church, with burial following at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.

He was born in Louisburg to the late Lonie Lee Holmes Mitchell Clarke and her husband, the late Nathan Clay Clarke. Mr. Clarke was a World War II veteran and was a retired postal worker.

Surviving: his wife, Grace Y. Clarke; daughter, Juanita Lanning (Pete) of Garner; sons, John H. Clarke Jr. (Anne) of Pine Knoll Shores, Ga., James R. Clarke of Wake Forest, Joel N. Clarke (Jacquelyne) of Holly Springs; and four grandchildren.

Flowers welcomed or memorial donations in Johnís honor can be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 714 E. Whitaker Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27608 or to a charity of oneís choice.
