SPRING HOPE – Agnes Layton, 74, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013.   Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Duke Memorial Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

She was born in Franklin County, daughter of the late Eugene Henry Colbert and Geneva Patterson Colbert.  She was a retired registered nurse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virgie Mae Halstead and a brother, Malcolm Colbert.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Layton; daughters Diane (John) Toomey of Collegeville, Pa, Kathy (Alan) Backus of Abingdon, Va.; son Sonny (Andrea) Layton of Spring Hope; brothers Henry (Frances) Colbert of Spring Hope, Furman (Kay) Colbert of Raleigh; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Duke Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 3976 NC Hwy. 581, Spring Hope, NC 27882.

The family will receive friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net.
