FRANKLINTON —Nathaniel Jones Jr., 87, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 24, at Cutchins Funeral Home in Franklinton, with Joseph B. Cutchins Jr. officiating.
He was born to the late Nathaniel Jones Sr. and Alice Jones in Bluefield, W. Va., and was educated in the local school system. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge from the military, he served as police chief in Cardrock, Md. until his retirement.
Surviving: wife, Emma L. Jones of the home; seven children by a previous marriage, Towana, Perry, Kenneth, Shawn, Iris, Krystal and Tracey; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Gregory and Bobby Joe; 10 step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
