JOSEPH “THURL” JEFFERIES
FRANKLINTON —Joseph “Thurl” Jefferies, 84, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at WakeMed in Raleigh. Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 26, at Kinches Chapel Christian Church, Franklinton, with the Rev. Willie R, Nixon officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites.

He was born in Granville County to the late Thomas and Louvenia Perry Jefferies. He was a lifetime member of Kinches Chapel Christian Church and served as a Trustee in his earlier years. He also helped build the church fellowship hall. He worked at the sawmill for many years and then worked in manufacturing until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James and David; one daughter, Louise; one sister, Betty L. Preddy; a brother, Thomas; and one grandson.

Surviving: wife, Ida Lee of the home; daughters, Betty Jean, Doris Jean, Nicole and Sandra (Kenneth), all of Franklinton; two sons, Louis and Thurston, both of Franklinton; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements handled by Cutchins Funeral Home, Franklinton.
