REV. CHARLES “CHUCK” ROWLAND
CLIMAX - Rev. Charles “Chuck” Rowland, age 84 of Climax, NC  went to be with his Lord on March 16, 2014, after a brief illness.  Rev. Rowland  was raised in Greenwood, MS. 

The funeral service will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Climax, NC at 2:00pm Wednesday, March 19, 2014.  The graveside service will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

He served in the Korean War as a United States Marine.  After completing his military service, Chuck, worked in the textile industry for many years until he was called to serve as a United Methodist Minister.  He served numerous churches throughout the state of North Carolina.  After retiring, he continued to serve in the ministry.  He enjoyed playing golf while his health allowed it, fishing with friends, and watching Duke Basketball and Ole Miss Football, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his devoted wife of 46 years, Ruth;  his brother: William Rowland of Oxford, MS; children: Teri McGinn of Taylors, SC, Beth Rogers of Hiddenite, NC, Bobby Rowland of Seagrove, NC, Barbara Hodges of Reidsville, Laura  Beggan of Louisville, KY, Sarah Campbell of Silk Hope, NC, and Terry Rowland of Chapel Hill, NC; Grandchildren: Bryan, Josh, Tiffany, Niki, Devan, Nikki, Ayden, Gavin, Chelsey, Hagan, and Kaydee; Great Grandchildren:  Jordan, Drake, Weston, and Ethan.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to your church cemetery fund.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rev. Rowland and his lovely wife through his sister-in-law and my dear friend, Donald Rose McGhee. They graciously welcomed me into their house when I was attending a workshop in their area. I send my sympathy to the family. I share in your loss.
