ALEXINE B. HOYLE

HENDERSON-Alexine Barnes Hoyle, 93, of Henderson, NC passed away peacefully, Friday, October 10, 2014 at her home.

Alexine was born April 28, 1921 in the Huntsboro community of Granville County, NC. She was the fourth of five children to the late George and Mamie Barnes.

Alexine graduated from Oxford High School in 1938 and attended Hermon United Methodist Church until her marriage. She married Wilson Smith Hoyle, Sr (Wil) on August 29, 1940. They were married 57 wonderful and loving years and made their home in Henderson. Alexine was a charter member of West Hills Presbyterian Church of America in Henderson. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was active in the Women's Fellowship. She will be especially remembered for her lemon and chocolate pies for fellowship suppers. Alexine worked at King's Department Store, Roth Stewart Company and Touch of Class in the Henderson and Oxford stores. Her passion in life was selling women's clothing and being in the work environment. Many thanks are extended to all her friends and clients who continued to seek out her expertise for clothing and accessory needs. After retiring, Alexine continued to serve by volunteering every Tuesday at Maria Parham Medical Center gift shop.

Alexine is survived by her son, Dr. Wilson Smith Hoyle, Jr. and wife Jackie of Henderson. She has four grandchildren: Wilson Smith Hoyle, III and wife Kate of Durham, NC, George David Hoyle, Sr. and wife Harriet, Suzanne Hoyle Cheever and husband, Chris, and Joy Hoyle Suther and husband, John, all of Henderson. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Lindsay Baldwin Hoyle, Wilson Smith Hoyle, IV, George David Hoyle, Jr. Caroline Crawford Hoyle, Christopher Ray Cheever, Jr., Jack Hoyle Cheever, Davis Wilson Suther, Katherine Suzanne Suther. Other surviving family members include her brother, Lee R. Barnes and wife, Alyse, of Durham, sister-in-law, Ann Barnes of Huntsboro, and many nieces and nephews. Alexine, or Idine to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will be greatly missed and thought of often by all.

In addition to her parents, Alexine is preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Smith Hoyle, Sr.; her brother, Robert Barnes and wife, Lillie Mae; sister Josephine Currin and husband, Ed; brother Waverly Barnes, all of Oxford, brother-in-law, John Hoyle, Sr. and wife, Emmy; and nephew John Hoyle, Jr., all of Henderson.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home in Henderson. All other times, the family will be at the home of Wilson and Jackie Hoyle, 216 Crestwood Rd, Henderson.

A service in honor of the celebration of Alexine's life will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 3:00. at West Hills Presbyterian Church, 1354 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Cemetery in Henderson. The Rev. Doug Addington will officiate the services.

Serving as active pall bearers were her nephews, Waverly Barnes Jr., Dudley Barnes, Madison Currin, Bruce Currin, Robert Barnes, Jr., Al Barnes, Lee Barnes, and great-nephews, John Hoyle, III and Jason Hoyle.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to West Hills Presbyterian Church, The Steeple Fund, c/o Cathy Carver, 3419 Cameron Drive, Henderson, NC 27536.
