LOUISBURG - Mary Edith Champion Spruill, 79, of Louisburg died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Rex Hospital. Born on September 18, 1935 to the late Bennie and Mary Bartholomew Champion. She was kind-hearted, always giving. She had never met a stranger and could talk with anyone. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Driver; her brothers, J.D., David Earl, Johnson, Alvin, Donald Ray and Bennie "Buggs", Jr. Champion

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Wood Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter Overman officiating. Interment will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Spruill; her stepchildren, William Leslie Spruill (Elaina), Jason Brett Spruill (Cindy), Margaret S. Abernathy and Mary Ann S. Green (Tim); ten step grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren. As well as special nieces, Sonya Hicks, Donna Colbert (Jerry), Buck Hicks (Kimbo), and many other nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Wood Baptist Church, 649 Wood Church Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.
