CONSTANCE YVONNE HONHART
December 26, 1946 - May 18, 2015

DURHAM - Constance Y. Honhart "Connie," of Durham, NC, passed into the hands of God on May 18, 2015, after a short battle of Cancer at Transitions Hospice, Raleigh NC.

Born on December 26, 1946 in Warren, PA, the daughter of a career military father, Connie and her family knew the challenges of relocating and being the "new girl" at school. She grew up in numerous states, and two foreign countries. Connie graduated in Warren, PA, the home of her parents and grandparents. She and her family relocated to Durham, NC, in 1987.

Connie graduated from Warren Area High School in June 1964, and Hamot Nursing School in Erie, PA, in 1968 as a Registered Nurse. Connie worked at the Warren State Hospital for 19 of her 42 years, and worked at UNC Hospitals until her retirement, at which time she attended to her husband's full-time medical needs. After the passing of her husband in 2009, Connie worked at Hope Valley Baptist Church, in Durham, NC, as a part time secretary. Her passions included reading, and crafting chrismons for the church.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph L. Schearer and Marjorie E. Schearer, and her husband, Terry L. Honhart. She is survived by one son, Mark A. Honhart, a daughter-in-law, Nancy; and one granddaughter, Jessica. She is also survived by three brothers, Rolland, Lee and Joel Schearer; three sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Those who knew Connie best, recognized her greatest strength as being her kindness expressed to others, personally and professionally.

Her final resting place will be at Lancaster Memorial Garden, along side of her high school sweetheart and husband, in Louisburg, NC. Her family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net.
