MARION THOMPSON DEAN
September 25, 1927 - October 9, 2015

LOUISBURG - Marion Thompson Dean, 88, born September 25, 1927 in the quiet community of Centerville, NC to the late Walter Norman Thompson and Nanie Gupton Thompson. Mrs. Dean was a graduate of Gold Sand High School and Louisburg College. Marion retired from the Franklin County Tax Office after many years of service. She was married to the late Clifford T. "C.T." Dean, Jr. for 64 years and was also preceded in death by her sister, Maude Thompson; brothers, Horace Thompson, Dwight Thompson and Buddy Thompson.

Marion was a very quiet and private person but amazed the family with her attitude and independence following the death of her husband some three years ago. She was fiercely independent, having been driving her own car and living at home right up until the last few weeks. Marion enjoyed shopping, antique collections, traveling, visiting Atlantic Beach with her family, NC State Basketball, but one of her fondest things was taking care of her Grand dogs.

A funeral service was held at 11 o'clock, Monday morning, October 12, 2015 at Louisburg Baptist Church with visitation following the service. Burial was held at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Dean is survived by her daughter, Nancy Dean Hunt and her husband R.C. Hunt of Wilson; nieces and nephew, April Dean King, Kaye Dean Pegelow, Mary Emily Thompson Austell, Darlene Thompson Oakes and Bennie Thompson.

Memorial contributions can be made to Louisburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 730, Louisburg, NC 27549 or a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net.
