SHIRLEY C. HAYES

HENDERSON - Shirley Corbett Hayes, 80, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2015 at Maria Parham Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., at New Bethel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Owens. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Esker Joseph and Blonnie Long Corbett. She was the widow of Otha Lee Hayes Jr.

She was a retired secretary at Pinnell Insurance Agency. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and the Marilyn Duke Sunday School Class.

Surviving: sons, Randy Hayes (Susan) and Danny Hayes (Gale), both of Henderson; two sisters, Doris Hicks and Mary Frances Curtis, both of Zebulon; a brother, Donald Corbett (Ann) of Zebulon; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Debbie Jean Hayes and Faye Hayes.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of Randy and Susan Hayes, 3748 Southerland Mill Road, Henderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church, c/o Debra Woodlief, 1149 Massenburg Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home.
