JANE JORDAN BLEVINS

ROLESVILLE - Jane Jordan Blevins, 66, of Rolesville, died at home on Sunday, October 18, 2015 after a long struggle with cancer.

A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 8 o'clock Friday evening, October 23, 2015, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Jane grew up in Castlewood, Virginia. Having studied piano extensively, she had the chance to teach music. In 1970, she became a music teacher in Wise, Virginia. Over the next several years, she taught music in several schools in Virginia and Tennessee. During this period she was also involved in the music programs of a number of churches in the area.

In 1993, her husband had a job transfer to the Franklin County, North Carolina area. Jane found a music position in a local school and continued her work. After a year or two, she discovered her love for literature, and started teaching English. She continued teaching English in Franklin County until her retirement in 2011. During this time she also served as the choir director for a local church and was involved in many music-related activities in the community.

Jane is survived by her husband, George, who resides in Rolesville; stepdaughters, Jessica and Erin from Piney Flats, TN; sister, Polly Frazier from Rockford, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM Friday evening at Bright Funeral Home.
