JAMES "JIM" ROBERT WOODARD

NEWPORT - James "Jim" Robert Woodard, 73, of Newport, passed away November 21, 2015 at Carteret Health Care.

The family welcomes friends anytime at the family home.

Jim was born May 6, 1942 to the late Charlie Nathaniel Woodard and Marie Whetstone Woodard. He retired from the U.S Navy after 20 years of service as a Senior Chief Petty officer. After his Navy retirement, he was a "handy" man owning and operating a landscaping business in Greenville before his second retirement, which brought him to the Newport area. For a brief time, he operated the Gallants Channel draw bridge and for several years managed the Atlantic Mobile Home Park.

Although his health was failing him, his love for his family never did! He loved his family, his children and his grandchildren with his whole heart. He was a very fun loving man who joked around with everyone! He also had a wonderful group of "Bojangles Friends" which he considered family that he loved to hang out with; he loved each and every one of them. Especially his best friend, Joe Tucker.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Pollock Woodard of the home; children, Donna Woodard Jarvis and husband Jeffrey Jarvis of Richmond, VA and Robert Anthony Woodard; stepchildren, Lisa Millis Wiedner and husband Danny Wiedner, Billy Millis, Danny Ray Millis and wife Johanna Millis, and Ryan Jarvis; grandchildren, Alyssa Davis, Christian A. Wiedner, Justin D. Wiedner, Greyson T. Millis, Shelby G. Millis, Landon R. Millis, and Ava P. Jarvis; brothers and sisters, Rose Woodard Marshall and husband Robert E. Marshall of Greensboro, William C. Woodard of Jamestown, Martha Woodard Rowland of Henderson, and Matilda Woodard Hughes of Knightdale. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Munden Funeral Home & Crematory, Morehead City, NC.
