CLAUDE R. EDWARDS, JR.

LOUISBURG - Claude Raney Edwards, Jr., 79, of Louisburg died Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Born on June 19, 1936 to the late Claude R. and Mary Dennis Edwards. A member of Louisburg Baptist Church, Claude was in the automotive business for 43 years. Claude was people person. He enjoyed visiting friends, he never knew a stranger and was known for his sense of humor. Claude was most known as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He began his career with Rowe Chevrolet Buick and was a former co-owner of Edwards & Finch Auto Sales which later became Edwards Auto Sales. Claude is preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence A., William F., and Thurston F. Edwards, and his sister, Doris C. Edwards.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at Louisburg Baptist Church with Dr. Reggie Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Claude is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Hunt Edwards, the love of his life; his son, Raney Edwards (Debbie) of Rolesville; his daughter, Debbi Edwards Walker of Wilmington; his sister, Virgie Edwards Eaves of Epsom; his grandson, David R. Edwards of Rolesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg, NC.
