MAURICE F. "JOE" CARTER

LOUISBURG - Maurice Franklin "Joe" Carter, 74, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at Wake Medical Center. The family will receive friends Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg, where a memorial service will follow at 4 p.m., with Mr. Allen Tharrington officiating.

He was born in Warren County to the late Frank Palmer Carter and Elizabeth Kimball Carter. After graduation from high school he served in the US Army for 6 ½ years. He joined the NC Highway Patrol then transferred to the Wake County ABC Law Enforcement where he retired as chief.

Surviving: wife, Linda Gayle Williams Carter; son, Thomas Franklin "Tommy" Carter (Ann); daughter, Cynthia Carter Koschel (Gene), and one grandchild, all of Louisburg; sister, Betty Sue Reid (Danny); brothers, Pete Carter (Patricia), Clifton Carter (Alice). He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald L. Carter, and his sister.

Arrangements are being handled by Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd., Louisburg.
