EVELYN "EBBIE" W. ALLEN

YOUNGSVILLE--Evelyn "Ebbie" Maurice Woodlief Allen, 81, died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 8, at Youngsville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Chuck Stratton officiating. Burial will follow in the Youngsville Town Cemetery.

She was the daughter of Maurice and Bessie Hudson Woodlief of Youngsville. She was a teacher assistant for many years at Cary Elementary, first in the hearing impaired preschool program and later in kindergarten. Evelyn and her husband, Claude, along with other parents of deaf children, were instrumental in getting the hearing impaired program started at Cary Elementary School. She retired in 1999.

Surviving: sons, Kim Danniel Allen and Timothy Haywood Allen, both of Youngsville; one sister, Elizabeth Woodlief DeMent of Youngsville; three nephews; two great-nieces three great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Claude Haywood Allen, Sr.; and her son, Claude Haywood Allen, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Youngsville Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 297 Youngsville, NC 27596.

Friends may visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service in the church fellowship building.
