ELSIE MAYO

LOUISBURG - Elsie Grey Blaylock Mayo, 87, of Louisburg, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016. She was born in Nash County on August 22, 1929 to the late Homer and Lena Fish Blaylock.

Elsie owned and operated Louisburg Seafood Market and then managed the Seafood Department at Winn Dixie in Louisburg until she retired. She loved her family and grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Granny." Elsie was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn Ayscue and her husband Mark of Kittrell; her son, Herbert May and his wife Jackie of Washington; her grandsons, Daniel Ayscue, Daniel May, and Jack May; and granddaughter, Emily A. Bassinger and her husband Brad.

In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husbands, Cicero D. May and A.G. Mayo; a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Mayo; and her three siblings, Curtis, James, and Goldie.

A graveside memorial service was held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at all other times at the home of Mark and Mary Lynn Ayscue.
