FREDRICK S. LOPP

LOUISBURG - Fredrick Samuel Lopp, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016. A visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 22, at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg. The family will also gladly accept calls and visits at home.

He was born to Cletus and Olive Lopp in Lexington, NC. Fred was a highly decorated WWII and Korean veteran who served for precisely 42 years, 6 months and 26 days, retiring as Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army.

Surviving: his wife of 68 years, Mary Lopp; sister DeLinda Freeman (Roland) of Fayetteville; children, Connie Mitchell of Emerald Isle, Kenny Lopp (Laurie) of Alabama and Roddie Lopp of Louisburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. Dates and times for that service are to be decided and will be announced when available.

As Fred was such a strong supporter of our troops, the family has a request for those wishing to pay respects. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Fisher House at www.fisherhouse.org in the memory of Mr. Fredrick S. Lopp.

Service by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg. www.stricklandfuneralhome.net
