DONALD S. JOHNSON, JR. "DONNY"

WAKE FOREST--Donald Scott Johnson, Jr. "Donny" died on Thursday, November 10, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Tampa, Florida, the son of Donald S. and Nancy M. Johnson. He was a graduate of Wake-Forest Rolesville High School. In 2000, Donny graduated from East Carolina University, where he earned a degree in Construction Management. He was an avid Pirates fan. Mr. Johnson was employed by the State of North Carolina Department of Labor.

Donny was a member of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Ridgeway, North Carolina. His family and friends will always remember Donny as a kind and humble person. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with his father and brother-in-law Will. He was also an avid and talented cook.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, November 13th at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1207 Ridgeway-Warrenton Road, Ridgeway, NC 27570, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In addition to his parents, Donny is survived by his sister, Rebecca Mitchiner; his niece, Phoebe Louise Mitchiner; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Donald S. Johnson, Jr. be directed to the Duke Cancer Institute in support of Dr. Herbert Hurwitz research, 710 West Main Street, Suite 200, Durham, NC 27701.
