LOUISE STROTHER BRAGG

FRANKLINTON - Louise Strother Bragg passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at home. She was born in Granville County to the late B. Thorne Strother and Zelma Holmes Strother in 1926. During World War II, Louise worked for the Department of the U.S. Navy in Washington, DC. Louise graduated from Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (UNC-Greensboro) in 1950 and began work for Governor Kerr Scott. She remained on his staff in Washington, D.C. when he was elected to the U.S. Senate. She continued her career in Raleigh with U.S. Senator B. Everett Jordan and U.S. Congressman Ike Andrews and retired with 25 years of service with the federal government. She and her husband of 62 years, Medicus E. Bragg, moved to Granville County from Raleigh upon his retirement in 1986.

In addition to her husband, Med, Louise is survived by her children Terry Ward (Kevin), Martin Bragg (Glenda); grandchildren, Catie Wall (Andrew), Gregory Bragg (Kayce), Sarah Ward and Michael Ward; her great-grandchildren, Ellie Wall, Emma Wall and Grayson Bragg. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Robert Ed Strother and Frank H. Strother. She is additionally survived by her nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted by pastor, Michael Edwards, and held at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1626 Gordon Moore Road, Franklinton, NC 27525, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

The family requests no flowers, but contributions to Wesley Chapel would be appreciated.
