RONALD E. MURPHY

LOUISBURG - Ronald Elbert Murphy, 74, of Louisburg, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Rex Hospital. Born on June 9, 1942 to the late Elbert Sidney and Bettie Corine Smith Murphy. In addition to his parents, Ronald was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Donald Murphy.

Ronald was a long-time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and choir member. His favorite pastimes were fishing, watching his Wake Forest Demon Deacons play ball, and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters who brought him complete joy.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church where funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Jeff DeGrow officiating. Interment will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Pat Drummond Murphy; children, Kim Ayscue Daughtridge (Tommy), Wynn Ayscue; granddaughters, Ashley Daughtridge (Robert Everette) and Kelsey Daughtridge; sisters, Judy Harp (Junious) and Betty Jean Adams (Barry); sister-in-law, Margaret Murphy; aunt, Alyce Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
