JAMES E. WILSON
October 27, 1932 - July 4, 2017

FRANKLINTON - James Earl Wilson, 84, of Franklinton, passed away Tuesday afternoon.

James was a son of the late Joshua and Ida B. Wilson. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Charlie Wilson; sisters, Joyce Wood and Kathleen Wood; brothers, Willis Wilson and Billie Ray Wilson.

James was a loyal and faithful servant of the Lord. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy, where he was a Deacon and served as Treasurer for 40 years.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Runner and Rev. Jimmy Earp officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service.

James is survived by his wife of 65 years, Velma Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Judith Secor and James Barnes; son, Charles Wilson; grandchildren, Arthur Secor, Tina Byrd, Jeremy Wilson and Jamie Wilson; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great- great-grandchild; sisters and brother-in-law, Eula Barbee; Deborah and Otha Hill; brothers and sister-in-law, Jasper and Barbara Wilson; Kenneth Wilson; brother-in-law, Joe Wood; many special nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte, 1613 E. Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28207.
