RICHARD SHAWN GRIFFIN

GASTONIA, NC--Mr. Richard Shawn Griffin, 49, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Richard was born on December 18, 1967 in Louisburg, NC, a son of William Floyd Griffin, Jr. and the late Hazel Joyce Eagles Griffin.

Richard was an insurance broker in Gastonia, working formerly with his father-in-law, and currently with his wife and sister-in-law. He loved to make people laugh and never met a stranger. Richard was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He loved to cook and was a grill master, loving to share his food with others. He was always a giver to others, even in death.

In addition to his father of Louisburg, Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Dana Bradley Griffin; children, William Bradley Griffin, Blake Michelle-Ann Griffin, and Brandon Shawn Griffin, all of Gastonia; brother, William Floyd "Billy" Griffin, III and wife Lori of Emerald Isle, NC; sister, Jennifer Griffin Grady of Holly Springs, NC; father and mother-in-law, Rick and Judy Bradley; sisters and brother-in-law, Page and Rusty Bumgardner; Mandy Bradley, all of Gastonia; nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Richard's life will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Debra Short officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riley Ann Bradley Toy Drive, 1203 Jackson Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052 or to Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1425 W. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
